The 3rd Meeting of the Biosphere Reserve Mura–Drava–Danube Cooperation Council Held in the Area of Virovitica-Podravina County

Project Pink Villains

Today, 16 December 2025, as part of the implementation of the projects Preserving and Restoring Floodplain Forest Habitats along the Mura–Drava–Danube (Project 101113557 — LIFE22-NAT-AT-LIFE RESTORE for MDD — LIFE-2022-SAP-NAT) and the Pink Villains, the 3rd meeting of the Cooperation Council of the Biosphere Reserve Mura–Drava–Danube for the area of Virovitica-Podravina County was held at the Visitor Centre The Drava Story.

The meeting was attended by representatives of local and regional self-government units, Croatian Waters, Croatian Forests, the Virovitica-Podravina County Regional Development Agency – VIDRA, Papuk Nature Park (PP Orahovica), the Virovitica-Podravina County Tourist Board, and staff of the Public Institution Priroda of Virovitica-Podravina County.

Following the introductory remarks, the President of the Biosphere Reserve Cooperation Council, Tatjana Arnold-Sabo, presented the activities of the Public Institution Priroda of Virovitica-Podravina County carried out during 2025, as well as new projects currently being implemented. Vladimir Juhaz, Head of the Bio-Research Station, presented the results after the second year of implementation of the LIFE RESTORE for MDD project.

In the second part of the meeting, nature ranger Karlo Fičko presented the results of the second year of implementation of project activities within the Pink Villains project, while Chief Nature Ranger Vladimir Ajhler presented the specific aspects of the work of the Nature Protection Service.

Members of the Cooperation Council discussed the ongoing projects, as well as opportunities for further cooperation and the submission of new project proposals in the area of Virovitica-Podravina County, with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience and promoting sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on nature conservation.
