Employees of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Parts of Nature and the Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County, in cooperation with the Čađavica Volunteer Fire Department (DVD Čađavica) and local residents of Noskovci, carried out a major maintenance operation today at the enclosure for the reception of invasive turtle species – red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) and yellow-bellied sliders (Trachemys scripta scripta).

As part of the maintenance, all individuals were removed from the enclosure for inspection and documentation. Excess sludge was removed, and the pond was refilled with fresh water to improve the living conditions for the rescued turtles.

Currently, a total of 81 red-eared and yellow-bellied slider turtles are being cared for at the Rescue Center located within the Visitor Center The Drava Story in Noskovci.
