Project LIFE RESTORE for MDD Project: 2nd Drava River Day Held

With the goal of raising public awareness about the need for more effective protection and a higher level of conservation of natural values, the International Drava River Day is celebrated every year on September 23rd.

Yesterday, September 21, 2025, the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Parts of Nature and the Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County marked the 2nd Drava River Day as part of the project activities within the LIFE RESTORE for MDD project (Preserving and restoring floodplain forest habitats along the Mura-Drava-Danube rivers, LIFE22-NAT-AT-LIFE RESTORE for MDD).

At the Visitor Center The Drava Story, participants and project partners were welcomed by Tatjana Arnold-Sabo, Director of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Parts of Nature and the Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County.

The activities continued on the banks of the Drava River in the Municipality of Sopje. The Mayor of Sopje, Berislav Androš, greeted all participants, while Director Tatjana Arnold-Sabo presented the LIFE RESTORE for MDD project and all protected areas located along the Drava River.

During an 8-kilometre canoe trip, participants had the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Drava River and its rich biodiversity.

After the water activities, all participants returned to the Visitor Center The Drava Story, where the gathering and socializing continued.
